EVENT STARTS APRIL 23, 2016
Q1: If there is a lot of rain the week of the race, do you think the race/ride will go off on schedule?
A1: Most of our races are at rain or shine venues. However, the Rock Dallas Adventure Race at northshore trail can be closed to bikes in the event of inclement weather. In that case, we will try our best to reroute on the paved roads and gravel roads that are still open. Some of our other courses require some rerouting to avoid nasty sections. The race at Ten X Ranch in Glen Rose is on 95% paved ranch road and 5% caliche road, so it is a rain/shine event. The creeks may be more full, but it is all part of the adventure. We have only had to cancel one race in our history due to inclement weather that could not be rescheduled because of flooding.
Q2: What kind of bike is allowed for this race?
A2: You must use a mountain bike or cross bike (because 95% of race is on paved ranch roads and 5% caliche road with some dirt bottom creek crossings). While it is mostly pavement, we don't want anyone to tear up a nice tri-bike or road bike on the gravel and creek crossings. Also, there are random sticks, branches, potholes and cow droppings throughout the course, and the 20+ cattle guards are spaced wider than most for the big game, making a road bike not a good choice. You must also wear a CPSC approved bike helmet.
Q3: My circumstances changed and now i can’t make it to the race, can i get a refund?
A3: No! No refunds under any circumstances. Wait! Well maybe. We at terra firma understand that things change, sometimes out of your control and we never want to rip anyone off. But please understand that we make a considerable investment in shirts, awards, dumpsters, porta potties, land use fees and a host of other expenses to put a race on. We know your one fee doesn’t effect this number, but if we don’t have a policy and stick to it, where do we ever draw the line?
We think we’ve come up with a pretty liberal policy and hope you agree:
